Early Education

Students in Preschool, Bridge and Pre-Kindergarten will engage in many activities in the library.  Together we will read stories that correspond with the themes that they are learning about in their classrooms, which include autumn, leaves, apples, pumpkins, spiders, bats, Halloween, the first Thanksgiving, sharing, Christmas, winter, Easter, vehicles, dinosaurs, Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day.  Students will also be able to explore various learning materials like LEGOs, magna tiles, Q-BA maze pieces, pattern blocks, wooden trains and waffle blocks.  As children interact with these materials, I will encourage them to practice skills such as forethought and planning, as well as problem solving and revision of original plans.

Students also begin practicing library citizenship skills as they learn how to treat books, how to use shelf markers, how to check books out, and how to return books to the library.
